Milton McDowell

Deputy

End of Watch: June 4, 1883

Milton McDowell, a civil war veteran and husband to Laura McDowell, was appointed as a Deputy Sheriff in Charleston, Arizona, which, at the time, was part of Pima County. On June 4, 1883, Deputy McDowell served papers on George Ellis. Mr. Ellis later shot Deputy McDowell, who, over time, succumbed to those wounds. Deputy McDowell’s exact date of death is unknown; however, by all known facts, he died in the State of California.
